Drumclog was the site of a famous victory of the Covenanters over John Graham of Claverhouse and his Dragoons on 1 June 1679.
The Covenanters, who were gathered for worship, were warned of the approaching troops by a look-out on a nearby hill.
The troops’ horses got stuck in the boggy ground and the Covenanters won a famous victory. The flag below was carried by the Covenanters during the battle.
