It is the aim of the Reformed Presbyterian Church to have the Bible at the heart of everything that church does and is. This is based on a belief that ‘all Scripture is breathed out by God’ (2 Timothy 3:16). The church also believes that all things we need to know concerning God, salvation, faith and life are contained in the Bible, and that in cannot be added to ‘whether by new revelations of the Spirit, or traditions of men’ (Westminster Confession of Faith I.VI; Rev 22:18).
Therefore there must be a Scriptural basis for everything the church does: how it is governed, how it worships, how it views the state and how we should live. This does not mean that all the Bible is easy to understand, or that we can understand it in a saving way without the help of the Holy Spirit.
In all disputes over religion, ‘the Holy Spirit speaking in the Scripture’ is the final authority (Westminster Confession of Faith I.IX)
